This book addresses the various challenges that arose during the two periods of Indonesian President Jokowi's administration. These included the global economic crisis, increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics, such as competition between major powers, the Covid-19 pandemic and its ramifications for Indonesia, as well as issues of border disputes, human trafficking, and the situation in Palestine. Addressing these challenges necessitates a forward-thinking Indonesian foreign policy strategy. As the 2024 General Election has taken place and President Jokowi's term came to an end, this book presents a timely and comprehensive discussion on Indonesian foreign policy and diplomacy and its associated challenges—those of the past, and those now facing the current administration. Relevant to Indonesian and international political scientists and social scientists, this interdisciplinary book—which includes perspectives from both scholars and practitioners—confronts Jokowi's policies relating to the economy, territorial, migration, religion, and all aspects of Indonesian society, in the context of the former government.

Dieses Buch bietet eine kritische und fundierte Gesamtdarstellung der militärischen Eliteformation Hitlers und entzaubert den Mythos der Waffen¿SS.
 Militärhistoriker Klaus¿Jürgen Bremm zeigt auf Basis umfangreicher Forschung, wie sich die Waffen¿SS von ihren frühen Totenkopfverbänden und der Leibstandarte bis hin zu 38 Divisionen entwickelte und warum ihr Ruf als militärische Elite bei genauer Betrachtung nicht trägt.Der Autor rekonstruiert ideologische Erziehung, Organisationsstrukturen und die konkreten Kampfeinsätze. The Novel Experience introduces new approaches to the study of narrative fiction, for scholars, critics, teachers, and readers. At the heart of this concise book is a conception of experience that is influenced by the musings of third-century Buddhist thinker Nāgārjuna on the fictionality of truth and the emptiness of reality. Combining this insight with Nietzsche's method of intellectual genealogy and William James's transformation of emotion into "pure experience," Helmut Müller-Sievers proposes a way to talk about the experience of reading a novel that suspends the rush to judgment and ever-new "turn" in modes of interpretation. In its meditative corporeality, it is also beyond the grasp of any AI.For Müller-Sievers, every experience is novel and every novel is an experience. He explicates this parallelism through philosophical works that privilege experience over knowledge (without denying the importance of understanding). Interspersing analyses of Nāgārjuna, Nietzsche, and James with personal essays about the lived experience of reading works like Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man and Heinrich von Kleist's The Marquise of O, The Novel Experience shows that reading about experiences in novels has a transformative effect on the reader's understanding of what it is to experience. Teachers and readers should attend to these changes, acknowledging their singularity while creating a community within which they can abide.

Weit über 100 Menschen aus den damals noch selbstständigen Orten Grenzach und Wyhlen wurden unter dem Nationalsozialismus verfolgt, inhaftiert, körperlich und seelisch mißhandelt oder ermordet. Die Initiative Stolpersteine Grenzach-Wyhlen befasst sich seit Sommer 2024 mit dem Schicksal dieser Menschen. Der vorliegende Band bringt erste Recherche-Ergebnisse zusammen:

Johann Faltum berichtet über die Zwangssterilisationen und die sog. Euthanasie-Maßnahmen im Landkreis, mit besonderem Bezug auf Opfer aus Grenzach und Wyhlen.

Veronika Dolar is Associate Professor in the economics department at Pace University. She was born in Slovenia, which was within Yugoslavia. Dolar obtained her international baccalaureate in Italy at the United World College of the Adriatic and went on to graduate summa cum laude from Western University. She earned a PhD in applied economics from the University of Minnesota.&nbsp;
Teresa Perry is Assistant Professor in the economics department at California State University, San Bernardino. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with an undergraduate degree in economics and later obtained a master’s degree in economics from Colorado State University. Perry earned a PhD in economics from Colorado State University.

This book places print media at the centre of studying queer German history. In so doing, it explicitly interrogates the exclusions that certain media forms can engender as well as the possibilities that magazines, novels, poetry, and erotica, among others offered queer and trans* Germans through the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. It brings together scholars from the separate yet related fields of German history, German literary studies, and media studies, as well as archival and curatorial practices of public history from Austria, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States to provide a collaborative study of these sources. In so doing, it argues that just as we need to take an inclusive approach to defining what queer print media is and could be, we also need to take seriously the textual forms of these sources in order to understand the wealth of queer experiences in the past.&nbsp;
