Il nome Brembo in tutto il mondo è sinonimo di freni a disco, alta tecnologia e organizzazione produttiva. Questo libro ne racconta l'affermazione e la crescita, da piccola impresa della meccanica e della componentistica a eccellenza mondiale. Ma la storia della Brembo è anche la storia di una famiglia e un pezzo di storia del Paese. Una vicenda che va dagli anni Sessanta, segnati dal predominio assoluto della Fiat sull'Italia, agli anni Settanta, quando l'impresa bergamasca diventa fornitore della Ferrari. Per proseguire negli anni Ottanta, quando Brembo entra nelle catene di fornitura delle case automobilistiche premium tedesche (Porsche, Bmw e Mercedes), e Novanta, quando assume il profilo di caso esemplare della 'buona' globalizzazione: apertura dei mercati, concorrenza, innovazione. Fino agli anni Duemila, con i primi grandi cambiamenti dell'industria internazionale dell'auto, alle enormi sfide di oggi e del futuro: il motore elettrico e il ripensamento dell'Europa nello scacchiere geopolitico e geoeconomico mondiale, la nuova responsabilità di impresa e il legame fra la comunità, l'Italia e il mondo.

Brembo. La velocità dei freni. Storia di un'impresa dall'Italia al mondo

Lanciata nel pieno della Grande guerra, la Snia Viscosa si affermò rapidamente come uno dei pochi giganti italiani ed europei nella produzione di fibre tessili chimiche. Negli anni del primo dopoguerra l'industria delle fibre chimiche, un'industria ad alto contenuto di capitale e tecnologie, era dominata da uno sparuto gruppo di aziende straniere, legate tra loro da patti di cooperazione tecnologica e commerciale. Anche per quei motivi l'esordio e l'espansione nel settore della Snia Viscosa rappresentarono un risultato sbalorditivo. Nel secondo dopoguerra la Snia Viscosa divenne un'impresa multisettoriale, con una presenza nella cellulosa, nella chimica, nella produzione elettrica, nell'industria bellica ed aerospaziale, come pure, negli anni Novanta, in quella medicale. Frutto di ricerche effettuate in archivi italiani e internazionali, questo volume analizza la storia della Snia Viscosa negli anni 1917-1954, con il duplice scopo di contribuire alla comprensione dei caratteri originali della grande impresa italiana e di fornire elementi nuovi per un'analisi del contesto storico in cui si dipanarono le vicende qui ricostruite. This book looks at how the law allows donors to establish perpetual charitable trusts, bearing the donor's name, and how it rewards and encourages the pursuit of post-mortem identity. It considers the policy questions raised by post-mortem identity. The law in this area is often complex and uncertain, and that legal unpredictably might deter donors from giving. Attention to post-mortem identity suggests that the law should be made as reliable and predictable as possible. This book theorises the motivation for post-mortem identity and works through its legal implications. It considers the even deeper questions in play and the particular problems which surround post-mortem identity. For example, a donor motivated by the prospect of legal immortality might be led towards bad charity. The donor might try to create a vain or prejudiced organisation. The book looks at the context of these issues, the policy challenges faced by the law, and the way in which the rules need to control and limit the donor's wishes.
