Algeria, Libya and Morocco 1948-1989

This ground-breaking volume presents a collection of the most important charter materials of medieval Sardinia from the eleventh to the fifteenth centuries. Composed in Sardinian, they include the earliest administrative-legal documents from a European chancery to be written in vernacular and not in Latin or Greek. New readings from the primary sources are here translated into English for the first time, and they are accompanied by a Sardinian-English glossary of terms, opening up the politics, society, culture, and language of an island at the centre of the medieval Mediterranean to a wide range of historians.

Vernacular Documents of Medieval Sardinia

A comparative analysis of maritime law and its administration in five northern European towns.This volume is an important addition to the history of Scotland and European law, utilising innovative research and methodologies to highlight Scotland's position in medieval Europe as a sophisticated legal player. It places Scotland in a wider historical framework for the time and reveals the extent of its maritime connections and influence. It has often been assumed that there was a common maritime law in northern Europe, shared between skippers and merchants who conducted their business along the North Sea and Baltic littoral. This study examines this assumption by studying the dissemination of law compilations across this region, and by comparing the contents of these and the judgments passed by urban courts in cases of shipwreck, jettison and ship collision. Medieval maritime law has never before been the subject of a major study in the English language. The practice of maritime law has, up until now, largely been ignored. This book is the first to offer a comparison of maritime laws and court proceedings. It is also unique in that it provides a truly comparative history, covering a large geographical area stretching from Aberdeen on the North Sea coast to Reval (present-day Tallinn) in the innermost regions of the Baltic.

Most research has analyzed and discussed supply chain phenomena at the macro-organizational level so far. However, this book addresses these phenomena at the micro-individual level. The reason is that, given the diversifying challenges in supply chain management (SCM), relying on a few SCM leaders such as SCM professionals and top executives is vulnerable, and it is essential to encourage the behaviors of SCM followers belonging to various departments (e.g., production, logistics, purchasing, sales, product development) and trading partners (e.g., suppliers, customers). Through this book, the authors insist that all individuals participating in supply chain integration (SCI) activities need to contribute to achieving a challenging, common purpose through interactions among individuals. First, this book organizes a multilevel model of SCI, encompassing both organizational and individual levels. After that, this book provides a detailed explanation of the relationships among variables at the individual level. The individual-level model consists of four variables: antecedents, mediating/moderating factors, work behaviors, and individual outcomes. These variables are established based on the insights from organizational behavior theory. The authors then demonstrate the validity of the abovementioned model through empirical study and apply the followership theory to individual level's supply chain behaviors
