The decades after the Second World War saw ambitious building programs to ensure social welfare. The Scandinavian countries in particular underwent an intense modernisation phase with the aim to distribute welfare to all. Yet, the relationship between welfare values and design in Scandinavia is anything but stable. The spatial and political legacy of post-war construction varies amongst Denmark, Sweden, and Norway and their welfare models have been changed, contested, and copied over time. This book explores how architecture, once seen as a medium for universal welfare, inclusion, and political participation, is now often associated with the opposite, such as alienation, exclusion, and segregation. The volume offers new perspectives on the history and redesign of post-war architecture and urbanity. Dieses Buch ist als eine fiktive Bilderreise durch die Dörfer Bayerns nördlich der Donau, von Aschaffenburg bis Passau, im Zeitraum von 1950 bis 2000 gedacht - eine Zusammenstellung schöner und ausdrucksvoller Farbfotografien von historischen Gebäuden, die man landläufig als "Bauernhäuser'' versteht, ungeachtet aller Ungenauigkeit dieser Bezeichnung.
Der konkrete Auslöser dafür war die Bereitstellung von rund 3.600 Farbdias im Mittelformat 6 x 6 cm für das staatliche Internetportal "bavarikon". Sie sind alle im Zeitraum zwischen 1970 und 2000 entstanden, also im vordigitalen Zeitalter der Fotografie. Ergänzend wurden eigene Kleinbild-Farbdias der Zeit vor 1970 sowie vom Vater das Autors, Karl Bedal (1914-1999) aus der Zeit zwischen 1954 und 1960 einbezogen.
Die allermeisten Fotos betreffen inzwischen verschwundene, abgebrochene Bauernhäuser und ihre Nebengebäude, die eine ländlich-dörfliche Welt zeigen, die noch nicht völlig geprägt ist von motorisierter Mobilität und von glatt gebügelter, abgezirkelter Umgebung. Dass sich in den Fotos aus der Zeit vor der Jahrtausendwende aber keine heile Welt spiegelt, sondern eine im Umbruch oder sogar in Zerstörung, wird an den vielen heruntergekommenen, oft leer stehenden, verfallenden Häusern deutlich, die nur im Bild malerisch erscheinen.

Der Tagungsband der EIPOS-Sachverständigentage 'Sachverstand am Bau' und 'Holzschutz' 2024 behandelt aktuelle Fragestellungen des Sachverständigenwesens und zum Bauen mit Holz.
 

 Die Beiträge decken ein breites Spektrum ab, das von der bauakustischen Normung über den vorbeugenden Brandschutz bis hin zur Regenwasserbewirtschaftung reicht. Weitere Themen sind die Vermeidung von Korrosionsschäden an beschichteten Bauprojekten, die Beweissicherung vor Baubeginn sowie abfallrechtliche Pflichten bei Sanierung und Schadensbeseitigung. Im Bereich des Holzschutzes werden unter anderem die Überarbeitung des WTA-Merkblatts 'Balkenköpfe in Außenwänden', die Spurensuche an historischen Holzkonstruktionen und Probleme mit holzzerstörenden Termiten behandelt. Zudem werden die Möglichkeiten des zirkulären Bauens mit Holz und die Vermeidung von Fäuleschäden an Holzspielplätzen beleuchtet.
