Neither security nor risks are issues that can be appropriately considered or examined from within the narrow confines of a single country; crime does not stop at the national borders. The demand for security services has steadily increased both throughout Europe and the world. The above mentioned scenarios soon gave rise to the idea of creating an academic training programme in Security Management with a strong international focus. This book describes the development of a respective project and its implementation in higher education. The core of the book is devoted to the academic contributions that were most influential on the ini tial implementation of the project. Most of these contributions are given by scholars who are teaching the Programme at the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
